Medical Eye Exam
During a comprehensive eye exam, your doctor is not only checking
for the commonly known conditions such as glaucoma,
cataracts, and
macular
degeneration, but also looking for other conditions which
may potentially affect a your vision or overall eye health. Some
of the most common medical eye problems are outlined in this section
for you.
The eyes can show signs of many conditions that affect the whole
body, like diabetes
and allergies. When
going in for an eye exam, it’s important to be prepared
with information about your medical and eye history that your
doctor may need, such as:
- Questions you have about your eyes or vision
- History of eye injury as a child or adult
- Names of all medications, including non-prescription, over-the-counter,
herbal, homeopathic, vitamins, patches, shots, etc…
- Medical conditions being treated or monitored by your other
doctors
- Past and pending surgeries of the eyes or body
- Name of your primary care or specialty doctors
