Myopia
- Myopia is the condition in which parallel light rays are focused
in front of the retina of the eye (instead of on the retina),
causing far objects to be blurry while near objects are seen
more clearly.
- Also known as nearsightedness or shortsightedness.
- An elongated shape of the eye along the anterior-posterior
axis causes this condition.
- Blurry vision from myopia can be made clearer with the use
of glasses or contacts.
Refractive
laser surgery is a corrective option for many myopes.
